(a bit on the late side, but here goes...)
April 20, 2005
somebody must have forgotten to tell the sky that it's summer and i was in bora, because it was raining when i woke up in the morning!!! at least i had free breakfast at willy's (i think it was the continental breakfast w/ egg). i considered taking the trike, but since i'd be getting wet trying to get in & out of the trike, plus i'd get wet later that day anyway, what the heck right? besides, how far can it be? (famous last words.)
so i wrapped my shirt in a towel (since i'd have to wear a shirt later), then put in my stuff (my phones & other stuff), then put bambi's cigs in my pocket. wrong judgment: the rain was hard enough to soak through my board shorts.
(sidebar: bambi's cigs are w/ me since her fam doesn't know about her nasty little habit. i put it in my short pocket since if i had to unravel my towel in her hotel room w/ her fam there, i'd be in trouble too.)
so anyway, i trudged to red coconut, thinking it wouldn't be that far, so i wouldn't be that soaked. wrong judgment #2: i ended up like i swam through the ocean instead of walking beside it, with my towel to boot. i finally got to red coconut and she fortunately handed my a dry towel, alternately asking if i was ok and berating me for her soaked cigs... he3x! :P
so we waited for the rain to stop, then i got out for my first henna tattoo ever! i got a yin-yang w/ a sun & moon design on my right shoulder, while bambs got her 2nd tattoo for her stay: a dragon (ooh....). we then went to jammers for lunch and bambi was making kwento again, waving her arms in the air when she hit the still-wet yin-yang! fortunately, we were able to get a free touch-up for my tattoo, although her pinky finger was still blackish from getting the henna.... he3x! :P
we then ate at jammers for lunch, and i was saddened since i didnt manage my expectations on other people's description of the burgers and the burgers i ate. it was more like the burger machine type burger; not that a burger machine burger is bad, but it's certainly not an earth-shattering event. maybe i ordered the ordinary burger, they ordered the monster burgers...
we then went around to let the henna dry and went to jonah's for their shakes (finally mustering the patience to wait for the requisite 45 minutes) and chicken tacos. the waitress even snidely remarked that i should be the one paying for the tacos since we havent paid yet (bambi footed the bill). we were having our little world conversations, criticizing the coño kids roaming the area, when the commotion happened.
we initially saw this chick having an argument w/ her boyfriend (we assumed), shouting for him to "grow up" (yep, definitely a couple fight). after a few minutes, there were a bunch of guys shouting, and even a tanod (local neighborhood law enforcement officer) joined the scene. not listening on their conversation, but knowing trouble when i saw it, i nudged bambi for us to get out of there before it became a full-blown fight. it was only later when i found out for bambi (she heard the fight better from her side) that some guys might have been lugging around drugs, and the tanod was accosting them. oh well....
we went back to red coconut to swim around, then went to aria's for dinner for our anniversary dinner (we're on our 16th month!!!)! bambi wanted an embargo on pesto temporarily & the customary drinks, and i was thinking about ordering the sampler. of course, italian food being italian food, the prices were steep. so we ended up ordering creamy pasta & caesar salad (it's caesar w/ an AE, not cesar w/ an E; i should know, it's my name!). i wanted to order pizza, but we were full from the pasta & antipasta, plus the pizza was rather sizeable for a small resto. i also ordered my trusty san mig light, while bambi ordered her margarita. she drank the whole thing until she could taste the silicon particles binding the glass.... he3x! :P
we then went for a post-dinner drink @ mañanas, where bambi had two more margaritas & i had a bailey's & another san mig light. fortunately, i was still in control & bambi wasn't all that slinky, since the rest of her fam was there. also, her mom's reserve was balanced by her brother-in-law's mom's (typical pinoy relative connection) exuberance, plus the liveliness of her dad, her sisters & her brother-in-law. the night ended quite happily, with her being escorted by her siblings, and me trying to get see through my blurry contacts back to willy's at around midnight.
see you for the next bora post!
